Volunteer Opportunities

Bluegrass Tourism Ambassador Program

The Bluegrass Tourism Ambassador Program is a multi-faceted program that serves to increase tourism by inspiring front-line hospitality employees and volunteers to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience.  When visitors have a positive experience they are more likely to return at some point in the future and also share their experience with friends.  Everybody benefits: the visitor, the hospitality industry, the local economy, and most importantly, the front-line worker.

Details: This is not just a training program - it is certification!  Volunteers who complete the program receive a credential and accompanying initials that can be used behind a person's name to denote the Ambassador's commitment to their profession.

By becoming a Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA), you'll reap the benefits:
- It provides a meaningful credential.
- Increased business, higher tips.
- Builds valuable skills.
- Career advancement.
- Networking opportunities.
- Receive advice and regular updates.

Certification:  Every certification program requires successful completion of a core curriculum. This is delivered through reading assignments and in-class participation (one, half-day session).  At the end of the session participants will be required to complete an open-book examination.

Cost: There is a one-time non-refundable, non-transferrable application fee of $20.00 per person, and an annual renewal fee of $10.00 per person.

Please inquire within Career Services for application details.
